In this interview the interviewer asks Mr. Garavelli if the dust was bad in the stone sheds. Garavelli's response was that many people were killed because of the silica. Later on, new and better equipments such as the suction were used. The suction helped a lot but there were still people dying from this dangerous job. Garavelli explains, "It's like a knife, you know, that silica. Like a knife in your chest"

After reading this interview I would never be a stone cutter. It amazes me how brave the stone cutters are especially when there is a huge risk of dying. I'm glad that Garavelli survived his job. If he didn't survive, he wouldn't be able to tell his story.
